Clonmel Chamber of Commerce hosted the first official visit to Tipperary of Dr. Zion Evrony, Israeli Ambassador to Ireland on Thursday, December 10th 2009. His wife, Mrs Rita Evrony, joined him.
The Ambassador contacted the Clonmel Chamber having seen a number of media reports about Clonmel and the vibrancy of the business community.
As part of his visit, the Ambassador and his wife were given a guided tour of the Bulmers plant in Annerville. Denis Hayes, Technical & Innovation Director with Bulmers who is also a member of the Chamber board, conducted the tour. During the tour the Ambassador and Mr. Hayes discussed the C&C Groups recent expansion in to the Israeli market.
Following the guided tour Chamber President Tina Mulhearne and Chamber CEO Brian Cleary met with the Ambassador for a working lunch. Developing new markets for Clonmel companies was the main focus of the meeting as well as assessing new suppliers for local companies.
Chamber President Tina Mulhearne said, “We were delighted to be able to host the Ambassador. Industrially, there are many areas of common interest. Israel is a leader in pharmaceuticals as we are in South Tipperary”.
Clonmel Chamber CEO Brian Cleary added, “ Both the Ambassador and I see many areas where we can work together. From a Clonmel perspective there are many opportunities for local businesses to develop their presence in the Israeli market, likewise it also offers opportunities for a range of local companies to source goods from new suppliers”.
The Ambassador’s trip to Clonmel concluded with Clonmel Chamber President Tina Mulhearne making a presentation to both the Ambassador and Mrs. Evrony.
