Clonmel Chamber launched the County Tipperary Skillnet at an event in the Park Hotel on Thursday. The event, attended by over thirty local businesses, was held to mark the expansion of the Southern Tipperary Skillnet into the north of the county.
There has been a Skillnet network based at the Chamber since 2008 tasked with providing subsidised training to companies of all sizes in the area. Following the launch on Thursday the network will now be able to put forward the same offering to companies in all parts of the county.
“The network previously known as Southern Tipperary Skillnet was one of the most successful in the country and had a well won reputation for providing funding for businesses seeking to develop their skill sets. The board and staff of the Chamber are delighted that we are now in a position to offer the same service throughout the county” said Clonmel Chamber CEO Brian Cleary.
County Tipperary Skillnet provides enterprise led training, which means that companies with a recognised training need can then contact the Skillnet to seek funding for that training. Training subsidies can be as high as 25%.
The County Tipperary Skillnet is also able to offer free training places to job seekers and has urged the unemployed to get in touch on 052 6126500 regarding availability of training places. “We have been mandated by Skillnets Ltd and the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Innovation to provide free training places for job seekers. For example, last year we put almost one hundred people through a range of courses from one day introductory seminars to FETAC accredited courses at no cost” said County Tipperary Skillnet Network Manager Jackie Ryan.
Clonmel Chamber is one of only a handful of organisations in Ireland, Chamber or otherwise, to host two Skillnet networks. It also hosts the Social Media Skillnet.
Companies seeking to take advantage of subsidised training or job seekers seeking training opportunities should call Jackie Ryan on 052 6126500 or visit www.countytipperaryskillnet.com for further information.
