Clonmel Chamber has a busy year ahead of events, initiatives and training for members in 2012. The Chamber, now in its 87th year in the town, hosted almost thirty free events for members last year and is on course to stage further free events this year.
The much anticipated town wide wi-fi service is heading towards completion and is expected to be fully operational within weeks. This service will provide high speed wireless access to smart phone, laptop and tablet device users in the town centre. It is also anticipated that the service will be used by local businesses to attract online visitors into their real world stores with the use of geolocation software.
In 2012 the Chamber will continue to offer free networking events for members. The organisation is one of the only Chambers in Ireland offering such a service to members. At present, the Chamber is working to create a 'Member 2 Member' business discount scheme that will enable participants to avail of specially created discounts on services and products. Some of the offers already committed by companies including discounted advertising, building materials, office supplies and insurance. It is hoped to have the scheme fully operational in February.
“Last year was a good year for us. We were named as Munster Social Entrepreneurs of the Year for 2011 at the Ulster Bank Business Awards. Our initiative to encourage people to shop in Clonmel to support local jobs was highly effective and one of our most successful projects” said Chamber President, Tina Mulhearne. “We are hoping that 2012 will be another good year for us and are also looking forward to welcoming new companies that wish to develop their businesses as members of Clonmel Chamber” she added.
Clonmel Chamber is the largest business group in County Tipperary with over 200 members. It employs five people in offices in Sarsfield Street in the town centre.
