Santa Claus is coming to Clonmel for the biggest free Christmas event in years. Clonmel Chamber will be bringing the big man in the red suit to The Main Guard this Saturday at 2.30pm. Santa Claus will be meeting children in his grotto from 2.30pm until 4.30pm.
“This is all part of our 'Shop in Clonmel' initiative to encourage people to make their Christmas purchases in the town this year” said the Chamber president Tina Mulhearne. “We are hoping that people will come in to town and join us on Saturday to celebrate Christmas in Clonmel. We will have treats for the kids such as face painting and balloon modelling. The elves will be helping Santa on the day to make sure that he gets to meet as many boys and girls as possible” she added.
Santa will have some other helpers when he switches on the Christmas lights at 4.30pm. He will be joined by Paul Walsh from Meteor award winning band 'Royseven', Mayor Darren Ryan and Chamber President Tina Mulhearne.
This is a totally free event and the Chamber would like to acknowledge the support of the South Tipperary County Council and the Clonmel Borough Council.
