Clonmel Chamber Chief Executive, Brian Cleary, has been elected to the board of directors of Chambers Ireland, the national body representing 57 Chambers throughout the island of Ireland. He was elected to the board by CEO's from Chambers around the country.
“The Chamber movement in Ireland represents thirteen thousand companies employing approximately one million people and I am delighted that my CEO colleagues have chosen me to serve on the board of the country's largest business network” said Cleary.
“I regard my election as a vote of confidence in the great work that the staff and members of Clonmel Chamber have been carrying out in the town. A number of our projects and work practices have been copied by other Chambers and business groups around the country. Chambers Ireland plays a key role, as our representative body, influencing government policy and I intend to utilise the position to represent the interests of our members in the shaping of such policy” he added.
Brian Cleary is currently serving as Chairman of South East Chambers, the representative body of the nine largest Chambers in the region. He will step down from this position in January 2012.
