Clonmel Chamber is encouraging shoppers coming to the town on September 3rd to ‘wear the county colours’ in advance of the All Ireland Senior Hurling Final on the following day.
The local business group is also encouraging shops and businesses to deck their premises in the blue and gold of the Premier County. As part of the initiative shoppers will be able to avail of free parking in all Borough Council owned town centre car parks on the day.
“The Tipperary hurlers have reached their 3rd final in a row and we want to celebrate that by getting people into Clonmel showing off the county colours. Last year this town looked fantastic and local business owners did a great job decorating windows, putting up bunting and flags. This year we want shoppers and businesses to get behind the team by wearing the Tipperary colours on Saturday the 3rd of September” said Tina Mulhearne, President of Clonmel Chamber.
The Chamber is encouraging local businesses to offer something special to customers wearing the blue and gold, this could include free samples or discounts. Tipp FM will also be broadcasting live on the day from 2 to 5pm in the town centre.
Mayor of Clonmel, Darren Ryan, was on hand to launch the initiative with the Chamber President and some local schoolchildren.
