Clonmel Chamber has been awarded a contract to operate a social media training programme throughout Ireland by Skillnets Ltd. The Social Media Skillnet will be able to offer part funding to companies seeking training in this growing sector. It will also be offering free training places to job seekers.
The initial contract will run until the end of the year and will see the Chamber recruit a network manager to run the nationwide initiative.
“The Social Media Skillnet has come about as a result of the huge demand for training in this sector. We carried out a very extensive training needs analysis and a number of focus groups while researching the viability of such a service. We discovered that there is a huge demand for social media training across the country” said Chamber President Tina Mulhearne.
The programme will operate nationally and will be managed from the Clonmel Chamber offices in Sarsfield Street.
“This is our second Skillnet and I am sure that the engagement of local companies with the Southern Tipperary Skillnet and its success since 2008 played a part in our being awarded the contract to run the Social Media Skillnet” said Chamber CEO Brian Cleary. “Skillnets offer enterprise led training and as such we are encouraging companies who have training needs in this area to get in touch with us” he added.
