‘Metron Nanotech’ has been named as winner of The National Enterprise Competition, an initiative devised and hosted by Clonmel Chamber of Commerce.

The competition attracted significant interest from businesses and the media following its launch in November 2010. Chamber members came together to create a suite of services and products worth over €45,000 to be used by a start up in Clonmel over a period of 12 months.

“We are delighted to have won such an innovative competition. For a start up such as ourselves the ability to access these supports will make a significant difference in the development of our company. When we entered we never imagined that we would win. Naturally, we would like to thank Clonmel Chamber and its members for their generosity” said Metron Nanotech Managing Director Mike Keating.

“Mike and his team deserved to win. They have a definite plan to create jobs and to make a positive contribution to the life sciences and technology sector in Clonmel” said Chamber Director Don Davern. “As a Chamber we are delighted to be in a position to help them to create employment and all of this has only been possible because of the amazing generosity of the eleven organisations who stepped up to the mark and offered their products and services selflessly” he added.

Clonmel Chamber has already worked with other Chambers in Ireland to help them roll the initiative out in their towns and cities.

The eleven contributing organisations were Europlan, Lynch & Partners, O’Gorman Brannigan Purtill, Unitec, Ulster Bank, HR Direct, Solar Broadband, Bord Gais Energy, Drury PR, Lion Print and Clonmel Chamber.
