Clonmel Chamber is leading the business community througout County Tipperary in opposing the reconfiguration of services at South Tipperary General Hospital. The President of Clonmel Chamber, Tina Mulhearne, has written to An Taoiseach, the Tanaiste, the Minister for Health and individually to the board members of the HSE to express the concerns of the business community about the detrimental impact reconfiguration would have on the wider community.
"We have outlined to An Taoiseach our belief that STGH is an essential asset for all businesses locally, particularly the manufacturing firms," said Tina Mulhearne. "In our letter to the Tanaiste we have detailed how our ability to attract further inward investment in County Tipperary will be affected by such a move. We have also expressed concern to HSE board members regarding the efficacy of such a move," she added.
Clonmel Chamber has also established a 'Text to Save Tipp' campaign. Individuals can text the word 'Save' to 086 0202 247 to register their support for the campaign.
"This is a countywide issue. South Tipperary General Hospital serves a wide catchment area and I am calling on businesses in all parts of the county to join us in opposing the move to reconfigure services at South Tipperary General Hospital" added the Chamber President.
